Doha: Qatari newspapers highlighted in their Wednesday editorials the comprehensive speech delivered by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, which included strong stances and sincere messages that expressed the nation’s issues and the concerns of its people. Newspapers confirmed that His Highness’ speech gained exceptional importance as it came at a crucial, fateful moment in the history of the region, taking place after the treacherous and cowardly Israeli attack on Qatar. It was an attack that revealed the reckless, aggressive ambitions against the Arab and Islamic nations. His Highness’ participation in the UN General Assembly demonstrates the prestigious status of the State of Qatar on the international stage and is a clear example of Qatar’s commitment to its various duties, its interest and focus on multilateral international action, and on conveying a bright image of its civilized role and humanitarian approach towards variou
s global issues and challenges.
According to Qatar News Agency, in an article by its editor-in-chief, Al-Sharq newspaper said the international community was waiting for important speeches from world leaders before the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, but the speech of HH the Amir was of utmost importance because of the strong positions and sincere messages it contained that expressed the issues of the nation and the concerns of its people, in addition to revealing the aggressive ambitions of the Israeli entity in the region. The newspaper emphasized that the speech coincided with the world’s recognition of the State of Palestine and is considered the most significant blow yet to Israeli arrogance and tyranny. The recognition also refutes Israel’s misleading narrative to global public opinion, which claims it is defending itself.
During his speech, HH the Amir revealed the objectives of the Israeli aggression against Qatar and refuted Netanyahu’s allegations, stressing that “this aggression does not fall within a supposed right to track down terrorists wherever they may be, but rather constitutes as an assault on mediating, peace-making state whose diplomacy has been devoted to resolving conflicts through peaceful means, and has been making strenuous efforts for two years to achieve a settlement to halt the genocidal war waged against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.”
Concluding its editorial, Al-Sharq said Qatar will not deviate from its path, as HH the Amir indicated when he said, “the State of Qatar has made a choice, as ever, to remain faithful to its approach of siding with the values and principles supposedly cherished by the international community, believing of the possibility of reconciling between these values and interests when policy is rational and realistic, while being unafraid to speak out for the voice of truth when silence prevails, and adhering to diplomacy when adversaries find it easy to use weapons.”
For its part, Al-Watan newspaper affirmed that HH the Amir’s participation at the UN General Assembly demonstrates the prestigious position of the State of Qatar on the international arena, and is a clear example of Qatar commitment to its various duties, its interest and focus on multilateral international action, and on conveying a bright image of its civilized role and humanitarian approach towards various global issues and challenges.
In an article by its editor-in-chief, Al-Watan explained that His Highness’ contributions affirm the significant and distinguished presence of Qatar on the international stage, with its active diplomacy that has enabled it to occupy a distinguished position on the global level, its keenness to convey multiple messages that reflect its commitment to the principles of mutual respect and non-interference in the affairs of others, and its keenness to expand its presence as a responsible voice seeking to formulate collective solutions to global challenges.
Concluding its editorial, Al-Watan pointed out that Qatar will be a shining example of a state capable of achieving the highest rates of development, and will remain a haven for the oppressed, protecting rights, upholding covenants, aiding the needy, and championing the oppressed.
