Doha: Qatari newspapers highlighted in their editorials published Sunday the investment activity recorded by the real estate sector during the first quarter of 2026, where the value of transactions exceeded QR 8 billion, achieving annual growth that confirms the strength of the economic infrastructure. The newspapers also praised the successes achieved by the State of Qatar’s healthcare sector, which ranked first in the Arab world and holds a prominent position globally. Medical tourism, they said, is expected to become one of the main drivers of the country’s economic diversification strategy. On another matter, the newspapers underlined Qatar’s condemnation of the targeting of two northern land border posts in the State of Kuwait by drones launched from Iraq.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Raya newspaper reported that the State of Qatar’s real estate sector witnessed notable investment activity during the first quarter of 2026, with transactions exceeding QR 8 billion. This strengthens the local market’s ability to attract capital seeking a stable and sustainable investment environment. The paper noted that this flexibility is the result of a solid strategy that has proven its efficiency, reinforced by the decision of Sandamp;P Global Ratings in March 2026 to affirm Qatar’s credit rating at AA. It explained that this rating consolidates the country’s position as a safe haven and ensures lower financing costs despite surrounding disruptions. The paper added that despite risks related to supply chain disruptions and rising construction costs due to tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, ready assets in Qatar enjoy a “natural hedge” that protects them from inflation. Al-Raya concluded that what distinguishes Qatari real estate today is its exceptional ability to adapt
and absorb shocks, remaining a sustainable means for preserving and growing wealth, embodying Qatar National Vision 2030.
For its part, Al-Watan daily affirmed that the State of Qatar’s healthcare sector ranks first in the Arab world and holds a prominent global position. It pointed out that medical tourism is expected to become one of the main drivers of the country’s economic diversification strategy. As a result, the healthcare sector has witnessed growth and successes, both in primary healthcare and in public and private hospitals. The paper also highlighted the Ministry of Public Health’s participation in marking World Immunization Week, reaffirming the pivotal role of vaccination in protecting public health and preventing disease. Qatar’s Expanded Program on Immunization is recognized as one of the leading national immunisation programs in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, providing a comprehensive range of vaccines for children and adults, protecting against more than 16 diseases. The program has successfully achieved and sustained high national coverage rates above 90 percent for most essential vaccines, contributing to
the eradication of polio and the control of diseases such as measles and rubella, while continuing efforts to meet the World Health Organization’s goals for their complete elimination.
In conclusion, Al-Watan noted the Ministry of Public Health’s announcement of organizing specialized training activities to develop and enhance the capacity of health facilities to deliver and expand essential immunization services. The focus is on improving accessibility for all members of society across age groups, with national awareness campaigns to raise community awareness of the importance of vaccination and its role in preventing serious communicable diseases.
