Qatar’s Commitment to Environmental Sustainability and Hajj Mission Success Highlighted in Newspaper Editorials

Doha: Al-Watan newspaper has highlighted Qatar's commitment to environmental sustainability, emphasizing the country's dedication to protecting natural resources and promoting sustainability standards for the benefit of future generations. The nation is advancing on two fronts: increasing environmental awareness and fostering a culture of social responsibility, while simultaneously integrating sustainability principles across vital sectors like infrastructure and essential services.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Public Works Authority Ashghal is actively implementing infrastructure development projects aimed at improving road networks, connecting districts, and enhancing services. This includes creating sustainable green assets that elevate the quality of life for citizens and residents. As part of these efforts, Ashghal is developing green assets, notably bicycle lanes and pedestrian paths, to encourage sustainable transport modes. These initiatives also involve incorporating green areas into road projects to absorb carbon dioxide, mitigate heat island effects, and improve rainwater management. Additionally, Ashghal is focusing on recycling to reduce waste and carbon emissions.

Al-Watan reported that Ashghal's efforts over the past four years have led to the creation of more than 363,000 square meters of green spaces and 995 kilometers of cycling and pedestrian paths, reflecting a strong commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goals. These efforts have earned Ashghal numerous international and regional awards for sustainability.

Meanwhile, Al-Raya newspaper reported on the success of the Qatari Hajj Mission in serving pilgrims during past pilgrimage seasons. Through its support units and specialized committees, the mission has worked diligently to facilitate the pilgrimage for Qatari pilgrims. In preparation for the upcoming Hajj season of 1447 AH, agreements have been signed between Qatari and Saudi officials to streamline procedures and enhance services for Qatar's pilgrims.

Al-Raya emphasized Qatar's dedication to ensuring that all facilities for pilgrims are ready well ahead of the Hajj season. The aim is to verify the effectiveness of preparations and provide necessary services and amenities for Qatari pilgrims.

The Peninsula newspaper, in its editorial, focused on Qatar National Day celebrations, noting the announcement of the 2025 slogan "Bekum Ta lu W Minkum Tantazer" (The nation rises with you, waits for you). This slogan underscores the importance of human development in nation-building and reflects the pride and unity of the Qatari people. The Peninsula highlighted the ongoing commitment of Qataris to knowledge, hard work, and progress, ensuring the nation's prosperity through dedication and responsibility.

The editorial concluded by emphasizing the understanding among Qataris that rights are balanced by duties, and true citizenship is an act of giving back to the homeland.
