Qatar’s Commitment to Syrian Stability Reaffirmed in Riyadh Meeting

Riyadh: In its editorial, Al-Arab newspaper affirmed that HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani’s participation in yesterday’s expanded ministerial meeting on Syria held in Riyadh reaffirmed the State of Qatar’s firm commitment to its principles regarding Arab and humanitarian issues. The newspaper added that His Excellency expressed Qatar’s clear stance supporting the Syrian people’s aspirations for a dignified life, which stems from a comprehensive vision aimed at achieving stability, development, and the establishment of a state based on institutions and the rule of law. Qatar’s support for Syria is not only a political position, but also part of a broad humanitarian commitment. Since the beginning of the Syrian revolution, Qatar has continuously provided humanitarian and relief aid and contributed to the reconstruction of war-torn areas through humanitarian projects in northern Syria.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Arab concluded by saying that the ministerial meeting in Riyadh is an opportunity to renew the call for regional and international cooperation to end the suffering of the Syrian people and fulfill their aspirations for a better future. Therefore, Qatar’s relentless efforts in this field serve as a model for Arab and humanitarian solidarity and a call to the international community to stand with Syria and its people in achieving stability and peace.

On the local front, Al-Raya said that in every society, there is a group that inspires by overcoming hardships and creating miracles, despite the many obstacles they face. This group is capable of teaching everyone valuable lessons. In this regard, the newspaper noted the inauguration of Warif Academy by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in partnership with Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development. The Academy, the first of its kind in the country, empowers students with disabilities and provides them with educational opportunities in line with global best practices.

It also pointed out that the State of Qatar has issued numerous laws facilitating the lives of people with disabilities and has taken various measures to enhance and protect their rights, ensuring their participation in the country’s development efforts. The newspaper concluded that one of the reasons that enables Warif Academy to offer high-quality services to students with disabilities is its focus on a group of students who have not had the opportunity to study before for various reasons, by providing comprehensive and innovative educational and therapeutic programs that qualify them to effectively integrate into society and achieve their ambitions.

English-language newspaper The Peninsula said that Qatar has positioned its agricultural sector as a key driver of economic diversification and sustainable development, as the Third National Development Strategy (NSD3) launched in 2024 seeks to develop sustainable agricultural technologies, boost local production and promote efficient resource utilisation to strengthen food security. Under the headline “Resilient Food Security System,” the paper said that the country is committed to supporting local farmers through targeted initiatives and agricultural support programmes. These measures have significantly increased the volume and quality of local agricultural production, elevating the standing of Qatari crops in the market.

The National Food Security Strategy 2030 launched in December last year aims to achieve sustainable food security through guiding principles, including promoting healthy consumption habits, ensuring food safety and quality, fostering sustainability, adapting to climate change and building effective partnerships. The strategy represents a significant step in strengthening Qatar’s ability to address current and future food security challenges. Among the goals achieved were increasing local production of agricultural food commodities in a sustainable manner, diversifying sources of foreign trade to avoid exposure to any potential risks, and forming a strategic storage of food commodities. Many programmes and projects were implemented to achieve food security by providing food at reasonable prices and there was a significant growth in the cultivated areas, The Peninsula concluded.
