Qatar’s Diplomatic Efforts to Ease Israel-Iran Tensions Highlighted in Local Media

Doha: Al-Sharq newspaper, in its editorial, highlighted Qatar's intensive efforts to de-escalate tensions since the onset of the Israeli attack on Iran. The paper noted that the State has engaged in vigorous diplomatic activity, making tireless efforts in coordination with its friends and partners to reduce tensions and restore dialogue among all parties in order to address outstanding issues and promote security and peace in the region and the world.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Sharq referenced the phone calls made by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani with the foreign ministers of several sisterly and friendly countries, including Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iran, Egypt, and Jordan. These communications were part of joint efforts to coordinate and unify diplomatic initiatives aimed at easing tensions and resolving disputes through dialogue and peaceful means.

The editorial concluded by emphasizing that Qatar will spare no effort in supporting all initiatives aimed at ending the escalation and backing any diplomatic movement that can lead the region toward lasting and comprehensive peace.

For its part, English-language newspaper, The Peninsula, warned that the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran represent a dangerous flashpoint in an already volatile Middle East. The paper stressed that allowing conflict to spiral further risks catastrophic consequences-not only for the two nations but for global stability. It stressed that peace must be prioritized to avert humanitarian disaster, economic disruption, and a broader regional war.

Beyond the immediate loss of life, the paper warned, war would displace millions, exacerbate refugee crises, and deepen suffering in a region already scarred by conflict. Dialogue, it added, does not equate to capitulation; it is a strategic necessity to prevent mutual destruction. Confidence-building measures, such as halting provocative military actions, could pave the way for negotiations.

The editorial concluded that international mediators, regional stakeholders, and global powers must rally to facilitate dialogue.
