Doha: Al-Watan, a prominent Qatari newspaper, has emphasized the significant diplomatic efforts by the State of Qatar in mediating a peaceful resolution between the United States and Iran. This role is seen as a landmark in Qatar's foreign policy, given the serious regional and international implications of the US-Iran crisis.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Watan highlighted Qatar's commitment to supporting the ongoing negotiations aimed at reaching sustainable solutions through dialogue and peaceful means. These efforts are expected to strengthen regional security and open up new opportunities for cooperation and development. The newspaper also reported on the encouraging progress made during high-level talks, including the establishment of a mechanism for continued technical discussions and the formation of a high-level committee to oversee mediation efforts.
Similarly, the Peninsula newspaper acknowledged the outcomes of the Lake Lucerne Summit in Switzerland, where Qatar, alongside Pakistan, facilitated high-level talks between the US and Iran. The summit led to the establishment of a High-Level Committee and specialized working groups, as well as an agreement on a 60-day roadmap towards a final deal.
On a domestic front, Al-Arab newspaper focused on Qatar's ongoing efforts to protect workers and ensure compliance with labor regulations. The newspaper highlighted a decision to protect workers from heat stress, effective from June 1 to September 15 annually, marking a significant advancement in worker protection from climate and occupational hazards.
Al-Arab further reported that the decision allows workers to stop working and file complaints if working conditions are deemed unsafe. No disciplinary action can be taken against workers exercising this right, and violations could lead to workplace closures or legal liabilities. The Public Works Authority, Ashghal, has reiterated its commitment to enforcing these regulations and monitoring contractor compliance.
