Qatar’s Film Committee and Company 3 Ink Agreement to Launch Post-Production Hub in Doha


Doha: The Film Committee at Media City Qatar has forged a landmark partnership with Company 3, a globally recognized leader in post-production and visual effects, to establish a dedicated post-production and VFX studio in Doha. This pivotal agreement, signed during the Doha Film Festival 2025, represents a significant step forward in Qatar’s burgeoning creative industry landscape, solidifying its status as a rising media capital in the Middle East.

According to Qatar News Agency, the collaboration underscores Qatar’s commitment to fostering a progressive creative ecosystem with advanced infrastructure and world-class talent. Hassan Al Thawadi, Managing Director of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy and Chairman of Qatar Film Committee, emphasized that the partnership reflects Qatar’s vision to support top-tier creators from Qatar, the region, and the Global South. Al Thawadi stated, “With Company 3’s world-renowned expertise in visual storytelling and our commitment to building advanced creative i
nfrastructure, Doha is poised to become a destination for world-class post-production and visual effects.”

As part of the agreement, both parties will engage in joint research and exploration to establish a post-production and VFX studio operated by Company 3 in Qatar. This initiative marks the initial phase of a long-term collaboration, with Company 3 providing technical, creative, and operational guidance to establish a high-end post-production environment in the region. The Film Committee will facilitate this collaboration through structured funding, aiming to make Qatar a production hub for the Middle East and Africa.

Stefan Sonnenfeld, CEO of Company 3, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that the Film Committee’s proactive approach aligns with Company 3’s mission to empower storytellers through technology and artistry. “This partnership represents the foundation for a new era of post-production excellence in the Middle East,” Sonnenfeld remarked.

The partnership will bring Company 3′
s global expertise and technical prowess to the region, focusing on developing local talent and providing access to cutting-edge infrastructure. The Film Committee will work closely with local stakeholders and government partners to ensure that the project aligns with Qatar’s broader creative economy goals, addressing logistical, operational, and funding aspects to ensure impactful outcomes in creativity, technology, and training.

Additionally, the collaboration includes consulting on a local production and post-production rebate scheme, which is part of Qatar’s broader strategy to attract leading studios, streamers, and filmmakers to the country.
