Qatar’s Mediation Success Welcomed on International Stage

Doha: Al-Sharq newspaper confirmed in its Tuesday editorial that the success achieved by the State of Qatar, under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, in reaching a memorandum of understanding between the American and Iranian sides was welcomed and praised at the international and regional levels.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Sharq noted that Qatar has once again proven, through the wisdom of HH the Amir, who led great efforts through tours, contacts, and receptions regionally and internationally, its superior ability to deal with acute crises. Qatar excels at reading the scene completely, then rearranging matters, formulating positions and approaches that bring together the concerned parties, and leading negotiations with conscious management, skillful diplomacy, well-thought-out steps, and patience, which strengthened the mediation of the fraternal people of Pakistan.

Qatar's relations, credibility, and the international community's trust in it are confirmed with every crisis, the newspaper pointed out. Turning to Qatar and its wise leadership is the preferred option for many world leaders and countries during crises because they are well aware that Qatar's record is spotless, and its leadership acts before it speaks, and has been tested in many situations, and it has been the safe haven for finding peace, Al-Sharq emphasized.

Qatar has risen above all circumstances and situations, and has worked silently and calmly, away from the noise or private agendas, to stop the war and extinguish the fires raging in the Gulf, thus supporting the efforts of its brothers in Pakistan without overstepping their bounds, Al-Sharq added.

Concluding its editorial, Al-Sharq stressed that Qatar's priority is not to be at the forefront or to seek media prominence, but to establish peace, security, and stability in countries and regions, and to keep the specter of wars away from people.

In turn, Al-Watan newspaper stated that it was no coincidence that the announcement of the agreement between the US and Iran coincided with the State of Qatar topping the 2026 Global Peace Index, ranking first in the Middle East and North Africa region. The timing is significant if taken into account Qatar's supporting efforts of dialogue and rapprochement between the parties, and the active role it has played in promoting regional security and stability and pushing towards peaceful solutions to outstanding issues, through dialogue and peaceful means, in accordance with the principles of international law and good neighborliness, efforts which have been widely appreciated at the regional and international levels.

Under the wise leadership of His Highness, the State of Qatar has been able to achieve all of this since it decided to adopt the principle of resolving disputes peacefully, and to prioritize dialogue, preventive diplomacy, mediation, and good offices in its foreign policy, Al-Watan pointed out.

For its part, English-language newspaper The Peninsula said in a world increasingly defined by conflict, polarization, and geopolitical uncertainty, diplomatic breakthroughs are becoming rare. That is why the recently announced memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran generated such widespread international attention.

Beyond the significance of the agreement itself, one aspect stands out clearly and it is the growing recognition of Qatar's role as a trusted and effective mediator in some of the world's most sensitive disputes, the newspaper added. Qatar's diplomatic achievement stands as a welcome reminder that patient mediation and determined dialogue can still deliver results in a divided world. Since the beginning of the crisis, Qatar has consistently demonstrated its commitment to advancing diplomatic efforts focused on de-escalation and the peaceful settlement of the conflict, the paper added.

Concluding its editorial, The Peninsula said that Qatar did not act alone. Pakistan and other international partners also played valuable roles in supporting the mediation process as successful diplomacy requires cooperation, patience, and a shared commitment to peaceful solutions.
