Doha: Al-Raya newspaper emphasized the involvement of the State of Qatar in joint mediation efforts with Egypt and the United States, along with Qatar’s sincere efforts to bring the region out of the dark tunnel. It explained that HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani took part in the meeting of the ministerial committee assigned by the joint Arab-Islamic extraordinary summit on developments in the Gaza Strip, which emphasized Qatar’s continued efforts as a mediator to end the war on Gaza. His Excellency underscored the State of Qatar’s enduring efforts within the framework of its mediation to end the war on the Gaza Strip, expressing its condemnation of the brutal bombardment of civilians and civilian objects by the Israeli occupation forces in the Strip. The newspaper concluded by noting that the State of Qatar carries the responsibility of the just Palestinian cause on its shoulders, stressing that the State has spared no effort in supporting
the Palestinian cause.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Peninsula highlighted the phone conversation held between HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE the President of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud on Saturday, pointing out that His Highness inquired after His Excellency’s safety following a bomb blast that targeted his convoy, resulting in death and injuries. HH the Amir affirmed Qatar’s solidarity with Somalia and its rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at destabilizing the country, the newspaper said, adding that Somalia has faced decades of armed conflict, social and political instability, and the impacts of climate change.
To help Somalia tackle issues arising from these challenges, Qatar has supported Somalia in its development projects, including those related to health and education. Qatar played an important role in the implementation of many projects in Somalia such as building roads that extend for tens of kilometres and connect the capital, Mogadishu. The newspaper concluded by stressing that Qatar has supported economic empowerment programmes and job creation for youth in Somalia and implemented projects to eradicate illiteracy and educate about 300,000 students, and empower Somali youth economically.
