Doha: Editorials in Qatari newspapers have spotlighted significant developments within the country, emphasizing a dual focus on digital transformation and advancements in horse racing.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Raya and Al-Arab newspapers have highlighted these transformative strides in their recent editorials.
Al-Raya’s editorial underscored the ongoing conflict involving Israel and Palestine, specifically highlighting the forced displacement of Palestinians. It noted the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure in Gaza by Israeli forces, which the editorial described as a violation of international humanitarian law. The paper insisted that such actions constitute forced displacement, as civilians are compelled to leave their homes without guarantees of return, contrary to the protections offered under international law. Al-Raya concluded by condemning the systematic destruction of homes in Gaza, stressing the increased risk to Palestinian civilians.
Meanwhile, Al-Arab newspaper focused on Qatar’s strategic adoption of AI technologies. It highlighted the country’s efforts in digital transformation, particularly through initiatives like the AI Sandbox and XR Sandbox. These initiatives are designed to foster innovation in key sectors such as education, healthcare, and government services. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s recent showcase of pilot projects was noted as a step towards achieving Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030 and Qatar National Vision 2030. The editorial emphasized Qatar’s influential role in shaping emerging technologies and the knowledge economy both regionally and globally.
In a different vein, The Peninsula, an English-language newspaper, detailed advancements in Qatar’s horse racing sector. The 2025-26 season is set to feature 70 meetings at Al Rayyan and Al Uqda racecourses, demonstrating the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club’s commitment to innovation and excellence. A highlight of the season is the HH The Amir Sword Festival, which will be expanded to a four-day event in February. This prestigious festival will feature 32 races combining dirt and turf racing, attracting local and international competitors. The Peninsula concluded by expressing optimism that the extended festival and the enriched calendar will elevate Qatar’s horse racing profile.
