Geneva: HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah participated in a dialogue session with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) focusing on alternative methods for resolving intellectual property and technology disputes. The session, organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's office at the World Trade Organization and other economic organizations, took place at WIPO's headquarters in Geneva.
According to Qatar News Agency, Her Excellency emphasized Qatar's leading role in international mediation and dispute resolution, noting that the dialogue reflects Qatar's commitment to enhancing alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in intellectual property. This initiative aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030 and its efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.
Her Excellency highlighted that the dialogue is part of Qatar's comprehensive strategy to bolster its position as a regional leader in international dispute resolution. She noted the necessity of diversifying effective dispute resolution mechanisms due to rapid developments in intellectual property and technology. Qatar solidifies this commitment by strengthening cooperation with specialized international organizations and exchanging best global practices.
Her Excellency also pointed out Qatar's dedication to supporting innovation and protecting intellectual property rights, which is evident in the legislative and institutional reforms currently underway in the country.
The session was attended by 22 experts and specialists from various international institutions and organizations. Its outcomes and recommendations will serve as the foundation for the second international conference on mediation and arbitration, scheduled to be held in Qatar in October 2025.
This dialogue is part of the ongoing cooperation between Qatar and WIPO to develop capabilities and support innovation and entrepreneurship through the strengthening of intellectual property rights protection.
