Doha: Qatar Charity (QC) announced that its humanitarian and relief interventions during the first seven months of 2026 have reached nearly QAR 236 million, impacting approximately 5.8 million people across 31 countries. The charity emphasized its commitment to addressing the escalating global humanitarian needs, particularly in regions affected by conflicts, disasters, and ongoing crises.
According to Qatar News Agency, Aisha Abdulrazzaq Al Kuwari, Director of Humanitarian Operations at QC, highlighted the organization's enhanced focus on crisis flashpoints, naming the Gaza Strip, Sudan, Yemen, Somalia, and Syria as top priorities. The charity also prioritizes assisting refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs), including Rohingya refugees. The interventions cover critical areas such as shelter, water, sanitation, health, nutrition, and education in emergencies, aiming to provide essential aid to affected families and communities.
Al Kuwari explained that QC's intervention strategies are guided by comprehensive field evaluations and international humanitarian standards, ensuring that resources are directed to those in greatest need. She noted that the focus is not solely on media coverage of crises but rather on actual humanitarian needs. The charity's operations are designed to transition from short-term emergency response to long-term planning, enhancing community resilience and addressing crisis consequences.
In particular, the dire situation in Gaza remains a central concern for QC, with ongoing efforts to ensure the provision of essential needs such as food, water, shelter, and healthcare. Al Kuwari acknowledged the challenges in delivering aid to conflict zones, which require collaboration with local and international partners to overcome logistical hurdles and ensure safe access to beneficiaries.
QC aims to improve its crisis-response readiness by developing technological solutions for information and crisis management. Such advancements will facilitate more precise data collection and analysis, aiding decision-making processes and enhancing the effectiveness of humanitarian responses. The charity's network of field offices and partners plays a crucial role in obtaining accurate information and ensuring aid reaches those in need efficiently.
Al Kuwari also addressed the financial and logistical challenges confronting humanitarian operations, including restrictions on financial transfers, rising transportation costs, and disrupted supply chains. Collaborating with international organizations such as the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and Save the Children is essential for maximizing impact and sharing expertise.
Furthermore, QC is committed to ensuring the safety of humanitarian workers, who play a critical role in delivering aid. The charity strives to create secure environments for these workers and uphold international humanitarian law. Al Kuwari emphasized QC's focus on sustainable humanitarian efforts that extend beyond immediate relief, aiming to support long-term community resilience.
Reflecting on QC's achievements, Al Kuwari noted that the organization's interventions reached QAR 455 million in 2025, benefiting 8.6 million people in 34 countries. She praised the generosity of Qatari benefactors and donors, whose support underpins QC's global humanitarian operations, and called for continued collaboration among humanitarian organizations, donors, and local communities to achieve lasting impacts.
