Doha: Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), has announced the opening of registration for the eighth edition of its flagship job-shadowing program, "My Career - My Future" 2026. The program, set to take place from August 2 to 6, 2026, is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau.
According to Qatar News Agency, the initiative aims to equip high school students in Qatar with practical insights and skills necessary for their future careers, bridging the gap between classroom learning and the realities of the evolving labor market. The program offers students the chance to immerse themselves in real workplace settings, providing exposure to various career paths over the course of five days.
Participants will embark on a structured journey that includes an initial orientation and preparatory session, followed by field visits and job-shadowing opportunities across more than 18 host organizations representing key sectors in Qatar. During these placements, students will observe daily operations, interact with professionals, and gain a deeper understanding of workplace dynamics and expectations.
Mohammed Ali Al Yafei, Head of Career Programs and Services at QCDC, highlighted the unique value of the program, stating that it provides students with direct workplace experience that complements traditional career guidance. He emphasized the importance of such experiences for high school students as they begin to consider university paths, skill development, and career planning.
Al Yafei also noted the collaborative framework supporting the program, which includes various governmental entities and host organizations, offering students a nationally integrated experience that aligns with Qatar's focus on youth development, human capital enhancement, and workforce readiness.
