Doha: The Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA) and Safran, a global technology leader specializing in aerospace, defense, and space, have announced the establishment of Safran’s new office in Qatar’s free zones. This development marks a significant step for the aviation and defense sectors both nationally and regionally.
According to Qatar News Agency, the announcement comes after an agreement between Qatar Free Zones Authority and Safran. The agreement was signed by the CEO of QFZA, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Faisal Al-Thani, and Executive Vice President and General Manager of Safran Military Engines, Christophe Bruneau, during their participation in the Qatar Economic Forum 2025.
The new office in Qatar represents a strategic initiative to support aviation and defense activities, setting the stage for future expansion in line with business growth and market opportunities in Qatar and the broader region. Initially, the office will be operated by Safran Aircraft Engines, serving as a hub for commercial and support activities related to aircraft engines. It will leverage the fully integrated aerospace and defense platform available in Qatar’s free zones to reach key partners and new markets.
Safran’s operations in Qatar’s free zones align with the company’s vision to contribute to a safer and more sustainable world through environmentally friendly air transport. The new facility is part of Safran’s extensive global network, which includes 276 locations across 27 countries and over 100,000 employees.
HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Faisal Al-Thani emphasized that Safran’s presence in the free zones is a pivotal step in reinforcing Qatar’s position as a hub for innovation in the aerospace and defense sector. He stated that this partnership aligns with Qatar’s National Vision 2030, enhancing economic diversification and sustainable development. The free zones offer a competitive advantage with seamless connectivity, strategic location, and a pro-business environment.
Christophe Bruneau, Executive Vice President of Safran Military Engines, expressed satisfaction with the new office in Qatar, describing the country as dynamic and attractive. He highlighted the company’s commitment to strengthening relationships with customers and contributing to Qatar’s economic growth under its National Vision 2030.
