QERC to Organize Founder Cup International Endurance Race Over 120 km

Sealine: The Qatar Endurance Racing Club (QERC) is preparing to host the Founder Cup International Endurance Race on Friday at the Marathon Village in Sealine. The event will span 120 km, with competitions concluding on Saturday.

According to Qatar News Agency, a total of 75 riders, both male and female, will compete in stages of 40 km, 35 km, 25 km, and 20 km. Additionally, the event will include the 100 km International Qualifier Endurance Race, which will be conducted over four stages of 35 km, 25 km, and 20 km each for the third and fourth stages.

The activities will commence with a veterinary check and orientation briefing for all participants on Friday from 14:00 to 16:00. The event promises to be marked by a strong competitive spirit as riders vie for victory and the coveted trophy.

QERC, established on October 7, 2021, is an extension of the Qatar Endurance Committee. This committee was initially a department within the club before becoming an independent entity under the administrative umbrella of the Qatar Olympic Committee and the Qatar Equestrian Federation.

Qatar was among the pioneers in the Gulf, Arab region, and Asia to organize such races, starting with local events over 40 and 42 km in 1992. The first international endurance race followed in 1994 in Ras Laffan, featuring Qatari and international riders.
