QNA Launches Professional Training Course on Media Editing and Monitoring

Doha: Qatar News Agency (QNA) launched a new training course titled "Editing and Media Monitoring" at the QNA Training Center. The initiative is part of a broader series of professional development programs aimed at enhancing staff competencies and strengthening skillsets across various media and journalistic domains.

According to Qatar News Agency, the three-day course is delivered by media expert Ricardo Joachim, involving participation from employees representing a wide range of state institutions, along with QNA functionaries from different departments and divisions. This course is designed to sharpen participants' competencies in journalistic editing techniques, spanning news writing, analytical pieces, and feature reporting. It provides focused training on professional journalistic writing methods grounded in accuracy, brevity, and clarity, emphasizing the use of compelling headlines and impactful leads to enhance reader engagement and ensure effective delivery of the media message.

The course also covers advanced aspects of content editing for digital media platforms and social media channels, including the adaptation of editorial style to suit target audiences and the specific characteristics of each platform. Additionally, it sheds light on media monitoring mechanisms across various platforms, examining the analysis of media coverage at both domestic and international levels. The objective is to uncover prevailing trends, measure impact, and capture public sentiment surrounding events and issues.

Participants receive training on state-of-the-art monitoring tools, including specialized software for tracking news and media engagement. This training supports evidence-based media decision-making within institutional frameworks. Moreover, the course promotes awareness of emerging challenges posed by the digital media landscape, such as disinformation and the rapid dissemination of content across online platforms.

In March 2023, QNA inaugurated the 'QNA Training Halls', equipped with state-of-the-art training facilities, in line with its vision of bolstering the capabilities of young Qatari media professionals and empowering them to adapt to the fast-evolving media landscape.
