Doha: Qatar News Agency (QNA) has inaugurated a specialized training course titled “News Verification,” aimed at developing the professional capabilities of media professionals and enhancing their efficiency in various fields of journalism.
According to Qatar News Agency, the three-day program is being conducted by Ali Asraf, a media expert at QNA, with participation from several QNA employees, along with staff from other media institutions and government entities. The course is designed to strengthen participants’ skills in media monitoring and journalistic verification, addressing the challenges related to the accuracy and reliability of media content in the digital age.
The course covers key topics including the concept and sources of journalistic verification, professional tools for media monitoring and content authentication, and mechanisms for verifying news before and after publication. It also explores the use of artificial intelligence in verification processes, detection of fake news and fabricated content, and enhancing journalists’ critical analysis and editorial judgment.
Additionally, the program highlights the importance of adopting rigorous methodologies for gathering information, evaluating sources, and ensuring the production of reliable media content. This approach aims to bolster the credibility of media institutions and align with international professional standards.
The training is part of QNA’s ongoing efforts to build the capacities of media professionals through specialized programs at its Training Center, inaugurated in March 2023. Equipped with the latest technical and educational facilities, the center contributes to preparing a generation of journalists capable of keeping pace with rapid transformations in the digital media landscape.
