QRCS, OCHA Mark World Humanitarian Day 2026 with Solidarity Stand and Photo Exhibition

Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) participated in a solidarity stand on Wednesday, organized by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) - Qatar Mission, in celebration of the World Humanitarian Day 2026. Held at the UN House in Doha, the solidarity stand saw the participation of representatives of the UN agencies operating in Qatar in addition to Qatari governmental and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs).

According to Qatar News Agency, during the event, Acting Secretary-General of QRCS Abdullah Sultan Al Qattan emphasized the condemnation of attacks and restrictions against aid providers, labeling such actions as violations of international laws and a disregard for religious and moral principles. Al Qattan also paid tribute to the QRCS humanitarians who lost their lives while performing their duties.

He further stated that the solidarity stand was a testament to the commitment of all participants to uphold humanitarian values and missions, aiming for a world that reaches out to every individual in need. The event also saw the inauguration of a public photo exhibition by QRCS and OCHA, designed to highlight global humanitarian efforts and draw attention to the dangers faced by civilians and humanitarian workers in conflict zones.

The exhibition aims to raise awareness about humanitarian challenges, underscore the role of humanitarian workers, and garner support for the respect and protection of people affected by conflicts and disasters. The event, which runs until August 22, showcases photographs and visuals depicting humanitarian responses and infographics on the impact of conflicts on both civilians and aid workers.
