QRCS Provides Emergency Relief to 20,700 War-Affected Lebanese Families

Beirut: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has commenced the distribution of emergency relief aid to displaced and war-affected families in Beirut, aiming to meet the essential needs of the most vulnerable groups and alleviate their suffering during this critical time.

According to Qatar News Agency, QRCS announced in a statement that, in collaboration with the Lebanese Red Cross and Lebanon's Ministry of Social Affairs, its representation office in Lebanon is distributing food and nonfood items (NFIs) to a total of 20,700 beneficiaries. This coordinated humanitarian response is focused on strengthening the resilience of affected communities and ensuring the timely delivery of relief aid to those most in need.

The statement highlighted that the Qatari aid includes 4,140 food parcels that contain essential food staples for recipient families, along with 3,741 hygiene kits designed to meet personal cleaning and care requirements, adhering to the highest standards of emergency humanitarian aid.

QRCS further emphasized that the project team will continue to coordinate with local partners on the ground to stay updated about the humanitarian situation and identify urgent needs. Currently, more than one million people have been compelled to leave their homes, relocating to public shelters or private housing under difficult living conditions.

Displaced families, having lost their sources of income, are finding it increasingly challenging to secure their basic needs, especially food and hygiene supplies. QRCS underscored that this humanitarian initiative reflects the State of Qatar's solidarity with the people of Lebanon and all disaster-affected and war-torn regions.

The statement also noted that the project exemplifies the positive outcomes of the strategic partnership between QFFD and QRCS, serving as an inspiring example of constructive cooperation between the government and humanitarian sectors. This partnership aligns with shared humanitarian and development goals, focusing on saving lives, alleviating the suffering of vulnerable and affected individuals, and empowering them to recover and thrive.
