Doha: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) general index edged down 0.07% at the start of trading on Monday, losing 6.77 points to reach 9,681.
According to Qatar News Agency, QSE data showed gains in the Transportation sector, which rose 0.38%, and the Banks and Financial Services sector, which gained 0.08%. These sectors offered some resistance against the overall downward trend observed in the market.
The market was weighed down by declines in five sectors: Industrials, which fell 0.61%; Consumer Goods and Services, down 0.47%; Insurance, down 0.19%; Real Estate, down 0.19%; and Telecoms, which declined 0.15%. These sectors collectively contributed to the dip in the index.
By 10 am, trading value stood at QR 50.649 million, with 29.126 million shares changing hands through 2,689 transactions, according to QSE data. This level of activity highlights the ongoing trading dynamics and investor behavior at the start of the week.
