Doha: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) general index fell 60.85 points, or 0.62%, to 9,712 points at the start of trading on Wednesday, driven by losses across all sectors. Data from the exchange indicated a widespread negative performance, affecting every major sector.
According to Qatar News Agency, the industrial sector experienced a decline of 0.14%, while the real estate sector saw a decrease of 0.23%. The consumer goods and services sector dropped by 0.31%, and the transportation sector fell by 0.52%. Telecommunications recorded a 0.54% decline, and the banks and financial services sector faced a more significant drop of 0.77%. The most substantial loss was observed in the insurance sector, which decreased by 0.95%.
By 10:00 am, the market's turnover reached QAR 47.475 million, with a volume of 24.033 million shares changing hands through 2,865 transactions. The data from QSE underscores the broad-based downturn impacting investor sentiment across the board.
