Doha: The Qur'anic Botanic Garden (QBG), a part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), has concluded its educational programs for the 2025-2026 academic year. The programs benefited around 400 male and female students and involved nearly 51 schools across various educational stages. The conclusion of these programs was marked by a ceremony attended by partners, environmental experts, academics, and representatives from government entities.
According to Qatar News Agency, the educational initiatives combined theoretical learning with practical experience through several programs. These included the "Food Security Program," which focuses on preparing students to understand food security challenges and contribute to agricultural sustainability; the "Young Botanist Program," designed to enhance students' scientific research skills and introduce them to botanical study and conservation; and the "Fun and Learn Program," which simplifies scientific concepts related to plants and the environment for primary school students.
A notable achievement from these initiatives was a research project by students from Qatar Banking Studies and Business Administration Secondary School for Boys. This project won top positions in the "Young Botanist Program" and has qualified for the final stages of the Scientific Research and Innovation Competition for secondary schools, organized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
During the honoring ceremony, Eng. Ali Sultan Al Muftah, Business Development Manager at the Qur'anic Botanic Garden, emphasized that the educational programs were comprehensive learning journeys aimed at instilling sustainability concepts, enhancing environmental awareness, and linking theoretical knowledge with practical applications in sustainable agriculture and food security.
He noted the strong enthusiasm from students, active engagement from schools, and valuable support from partners, all of which were instrumental in achieving the programs' goals. These efforts have created inspiring educational experiences that extend beyond the classroom, emphasizing that investing in the awareness of future generations is an investment in a more sustainable future. The programs will continue to develop to enhance their impact and innovation.
The event also featured student presentations showcasing their practical experiences and acquired skills, along with a visual presentation highlighting key program outcomes. These initiatives contribute to building a generation that is environmentally conscious and committed to sustainability.
