AlUla, The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has announced the birth of seven Arabian leopard cubs this year. The announcement confirms the commission’s efforts to achieve its goals of rehabilitating the ecosystems and protecting the Arabian leopards from extinction, one of the world’s most endangered animals.

The leopard cubs were born at Prince Saud bin Faisal Wildlife Research Center in the Taif Governorate during the past five months, bringing the total number of Arab leopards to 27, doubling their numbers since the start of the Arab Leopards Project of the Royal Commission in 2020.

Through its strategy to preserve the Arabian leopards and protect them from extinction, the RCU seeks to rehabilitate ecosystems in accordance with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. It also seeks to rehabilitate the natural environment in line with national goals, including the Saudi Green Initiative, slated to make 50% of AlUla’s land a natural reserve.
