Royal Commission for AlUla Participates in Silk Road Dialogue, 5th International Ancient Capitals Forum

The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has recently participated in two global cultural forums: the Silk Road Dialogue in Istanbul, Turkey, and the 5th International Ancient Capitals Forum in Luoyang, China. This participation is part of the RCU’s efforts to strengthen the Saudi-Chinese partnership.

These events provided important platforms for the RCU to reinforce AlUla’s position as the world’s largest living museum. The RCU engaged with experts, culture and heritage specialists, and leaders from the tourism sector in China and beyond.

The Silk Road Dialogue, held from June 27 to 30, included numerous exhibitions and panel discussions. Efforts were made to facilitate official visits to AlUla and other destinations.

The RCU’s participation aligns with its commitment to preserving cultural heritage. It offered opportunities to expand existing strategic partnerships, establish new ones, and strengthen connections with partners from China and other Silk Road countries. This is aimed at developing opportunit
ies to attract and host international visitors to showcase their shared heritage.

AlUla is a founding member of the Silk Road International Tourism Alliance, working alongside 58 destinations from 26 countries to promote sustainable tourism and preserve shared human history.

The RCU also participated in the 5th International Ancient Capitals Forum, held from June 26 to 28, where it showcased its efforts in protecting and promoting cultural heritage. History experts, government officials, and diplomats from China and worldwide attended the event, highlighting AlUla’s established position as a historical destination of global significance.

The forum was launched to enhance dialogue and cooperation between cities with thousands of years of history, based on the agreement signed earlier this year between AlUla and its Chinese partners in the Cultural Heritage Administration of Henan Province.

The RCU and officials of the Luoyang municipal government in Henan Province met to discuss areas of cooperation, i
ncluding tourism, agriculture, heritage preservation, and urban development, while exploring new sectors for partnership between China and Saudi Arabia.
