Russia Incursions into NATO Territories Threaten Direct Armed Conflict, UK Warns

Doha: UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper warned Russia Monday that its incursions into NATO territory threaten a direct armed conflict, stressing that the alliance will be prepared to confront warplanes entering the airspace of its member states. Cooper told the UN Security Council that the alliance is prepared to defend NATO skies and territory.

According to Qatar News Agency, the European airspace witnessed a series of Russian air violations during September, including those affecting Poland, Romania, and Estonia, countries that represent NATO's eastern flank. This escalation has once again highlighted the ongoing tensions between Russia and the West since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, and has raised serious concerns that the confrontation could expand beyond the Ukrainian arena.
