Russian Defense Ministry Announces Capture of Oleksiivka in Eastern Ukraine

Moscow: Forces from the Russian 'North' Group have captured Oleksiivka town in Ukraine's Sumy Oblast, the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Sunday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the operation inflicted heavy casualties on Ukrainian forces, exceeding 200 troops who were either killed or injured, in addition to destroying an armored personnel carrier, six vehicles, five field artillery pieces, and an electronic warfare station.

Reports coming out of both countries remain conflicting when it comes to battlefield developments, with no way to independently verify those accounts due to the ongoing war and relentless fighting since February 2022.
