Moscow:Scientists at Sechenov University have developed a new experimental blood test system designed to identify breast cancer with high sensitivity.
According to Qatar News Agency, the researchers are focusing on measuring concentrations of specific proteins, including osteopontin, soluble VEGFR2, neuropilin-1, suPAR, and tenascin-C. These proteins help detect biological signals associated with inflammation, angiogenesis, and active tumor growth.
The study involved 135 women, 55 of whom had confirmed breast cancer. This allowed experts to assess the effectiveness of the protein combination in distinguishing cancer patients from healthy individuals. Internal tests showed that the model successfully identified 96.4% of breast cancer cases.
While this development does not replace mammography or other diagnostic methods, it could potentially assist doctors in determining which patients need further examination in the future.
