Saudi Highway Code Sets Unified Standards for Elevated Pedestrian Crossings, Says Roads General Authority

The maximum speed limit in these zones is 50 km/h, although a safer 30 km/h limit is suggested. It stresses using safe, slip-resistant materials for crossing surfaces, with particular attention given to accommodating the needs of individuals with disabilities. Clear markings and suitable traffic control are also deemed essential for pedestrian crossings.

The code is a technical manual for various entities responsible for the Kingdom’s road infrastructure, such as ministries, regional development authorities, and municipalities. It provides vital details for planning, designing, implementing, operating, and
