Riyadh: A Saudi Transport General Authority (TGA) delegation visited the Philippine Maritime Industry Authority from April 29 to May 3, 2024, to review and evaluate the maritime education, training, and certification system in the Philippines.

The Saudi delegation held a meeting with Philippine Maritime Industry Authority officials and visited the STCW Office where it was briefed on the facilities, including the exam center, exam halls, question bank, and certification center.

The delegation concluded its visit on the island of Batan, where it was briefed on the academy and its educational programs, after which it toured the academy facilities.

The visit aims to strengthen the partnership in the maritime transport industry between Saudi Arabia and the Philippines. It was in line with the memorandum of mutual recognition of maritime certificates signed by the Minister of Transport and Logistics in November 2023 during the International Maritime Organization Council elections for 2024-2025. The memorandum ai
ms to facilitate the recognition of maritime certificates issued by the two countries, and enhance cooperation in the field of maritime transport.
