Riyadh, The Saudi Music Commission announced yesterday the conclusion of the second edition of the three-day International Opera Festival at the Red Theatre of Princess Noura University in Riyadh.

Several opera artists participated in the event with famous operatic pieces and performances; cultural information about the history of opera was also displayed on screens throughout the theater, including a description of the voices that are the basic element of this art, and the common musical instruments, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The “Franco Zeffirelli Exhibition” was also shown during the festival, displaying distinctive items of decoration and costumes from the most famous opera performances, and a photography corner, designed in a classic style, giving visitors the opportunity to take souvenir photos.

By holding this festival, the Music Commission aims to establish an international annual event that celebrates opera as one of the distinctive musical forms and teaches about global cultures.

The event reflects the Ministry of Culture’s keenness to promote international cultural exchange, which is one of its strategic goals.
