Tripoli: The Libyan High National Election Commission (HNEC) announced Sunday the start of the second phase of municipal council elections. This phase involves 63 councils spread across various regions of the nation, following the conclusion of their legal terms and preparing for the 2025 elections.
According to Qatar News Agency, HNEC emphasized that the electoral process will begin with a 21-day candidate registration phase starting Sunday. After this phase, the details of the voter registration phase will be disclosed. In November 2024, the HNEC successfully carried out the first phase of municipal elections, which included 58 municipal councils located in the eastern, western, and southern regions of Libya.
