Shafallah Center Announces Launch of Shafallah Hackathon 2025 to Support Innovative Ideas

Doha: The Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities, one of the centers under the Qatar Social Work Foundation, announced the launch of Shafallah Hackathon 2025 under the theme: ‘Innovate: For an Accessible World.’ The event is the first of its kind in Qatar, specifically aimed at supporting people with disabilities, particularly those with cerebral palsy.

According to Qatar News Agency, Shafallah Hackathon 2025 will commence on September 14 at the Qatar Scientific Club, with participation from student teams and innovation enthusiasts. Winning projects and qualifying teams will be honored during a special ceremony in October, coinciding with World Cerebral Palsy Day, observed annually on October 6.

The event aims to support ideas that serve people with disabilities, raise community awareness of cerebral palsy issues, and provide a platform for students and innovators to propose practical technological and human-centered solutions. It also seeks to strengthen partnerships between academic and community institutions in support of innovation, reflecting the Center’s commitment to fostering social innovation and expanding inclusion and empowerment.

Regarding the hackathon, Director of Community Awareness at Shafallah Center Jawaher Al Hajri emphasized that the initiative represents a step in supporting projects designed to facilitate the lives of people with disabilities, noting that it aligns with the Center’s mission to build a more inclusive and equitable society.

Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Scientific Club Fatima Al Muhannadi highlighted that the collaboration with Shafallah Center reflects the Club’s belief in harnessing technology and innovation for social benefit. She added that the hackathon provides a platform for youth and students to propose solutions serving individuals with cerebral palsy in particular, and persons with disabilities more broadly.
