Shura Council’s Second Deputy Chairperson affirms depth of Bahraini-Saudi relations

Second Deputy Chairperson of the Shura Council, Dr. Jehad Abdulla Al-Fadhel, has affirmed the Shura Council’s constant interest in deepening cooperation with its Saudi Counterpart, by conducting joint legislative and parliamentary research and studies, as well as exchanging expertise and knowledge, to contribute to strengthening the joint deep-rooted fraternal ties.

Dr. Al-Fadhel was speaking while meeting here today, in the presence of Dr. Kareema Mohammed Al-Abbasi, the Shura Council Secretary-General, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shutairy, the Director-General of the Saudi Shura Council’s Research Centre.

The Saudi delegation is visiting the kingdom to be informed about its legislative system and the research support provided by the Shura Council’s Secretariat-General to members.

The Second Deputy Chairperson of the Shura Council affirmed that the depth of the Bahraini-Saudi relations paves the way for enhancing bilateral cooperation across various development fields.

She highlighted the importance of reports and studies prepared by parliamentary research centres in supporting the legislative work and the duties carried out by lawmakers.

She praised the ongoing cooperation and partnership between the Shura councils in the two kingdoms, citing their keenness to unify their stances vis-à-vis various issues discussed at international parliamentary gatherings.

The Shura Council Secretary-General welcomed the Saudi delegation, expressing hope that the visit will contribute to developing the legislative process in the two kingdoms. She also stressed the importance of carrying on cooperation and exchange of expertise among the legislative councils of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The Director-General of the Saudi Shura Council’s Research Centre lauded the progress witnessed by the Shura Council in Bahrain, affirming that it is considered one of the advanced and exemplary legislative councils.

He praised the modern system adopted by the Shura Council to support its members, lauding the strategies and plans implemented by the Secretariat General to ensure the efficiency and quality of parliamentary reports and research that constitute a fundamental pillar in legislative work.

The Saudi delegation visited the Shura Council’s meeting hall, where they informed about the sessions’ mechanisms and the electronic systems applied there, as well as the communication systems used before and during sessions.

The delegation also paid a visit to the Isa Cultural Centre, and toured its sections. It was also briefed about the role National Library and the Digital Library, as well as the role of the centre in spreading culture, sciences and thought.
