Doha: The Qatar Junior Open Squash Championships wrapped up at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, showcasing budding talent from across the region in four distinct age categories. The event was organized by the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation.
According to Qatar News Agency, Adiv Gohlee from Singapore emerged victorious in the under-17 category, besting his compatriot Veer Malhotra, who secured the second spot. In the under-15 division, Kuwait's Abdullah Redha clinched the title, with his fellow countryman Saleh Ashkanani finishing as runner-up.
Malaysia's Eman Dylan Saadan claimed the top position in the under-13 category, while Saqr Al-Kandari from Kuwait took second place. The under-11 title was won by Saudi Arabia's Abdullah bin Bakheet, with Kuwait's Adnan Al Shammari finishing in second place.
Tariq Zainal, secretary-general of the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation, along with tournament director Saad Al Mohannadi, were present to award the winners with their trophies. Al Mohannadi highlighted the high level of competition during the tournament and emphasized its role in honing the skills of young players while providing them with valuable experience.
Al Mohannadi also expressed the federation's commitment to continue hosting and organizing such tournaments to promote the sport of squash. He noted the importance of these events in expanding the player base and providing Qatari players of all ages with opportunities to compete against formidable opponents.
