Somali Authorities Announce Capture of Multiple Areas in Southern Country

Doha: The Somali military has captured multiple areas in the Lower Shabelle Governorate in the south of the country, where Al-Shabaab movement, affiliated with Al-Qaeda, was dug in there, the Somali authorities announced on Wednesday. The military stated that special forces were able to take control of the areas of Malinka, Beled Amin, Omar Biri, and Bulo in the Governorate, removed landmines and established security and stability.

According to Qatar News Agency, for nearly two decades, the Somali government forces have been battling militants, primarily Al-Shabaab which conducted numerous attacks that killed hundreds of civilians and security personnel.
