Somalia, Germany Sign EUR 75 Million Development Agreement


Doha: Somalia and Germany signed a EUR 75 million development cooperation agreement to bolster development and complement a previous agreement signed by the two countries in 2023. The agreement was signed by Somalia’s Minister of Planning, Investment and Economic Development, Mohamud Abdirahman Sheikh Farah, and Head of the East Africa Department at Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Julia Hanning.



According to Qatar News Agency, the two-year agreement focuses on development in the areas of agriculture and food systems, education, employment, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), water and irrigation management, and climate change resilience. The Somali Minister of Planning noted that the agreement reinforces the priorities of the National Transformation Plan, particularly job creation, basic services, and climate resilience.
