Turkish President Criticizes Western Double Standards Toward Genocide in Gaza

Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized the double standards of human rights and freedoms advocates in Western countries, who preach these values to the world but remain silent on the genocide and killing of children in Gaza by the Israeli entity.

According to Qatar News Agency, Turkiye is conducting multi-faceted diplomatic efforts to reestablish a ceasefire and to end massacres in Gaza. Erdogan emphasized that Ankara will continue to intensify these efforts ahead of Eid al-Fitr. He highlighted the lack of reaction from those who often speak of human rights and freedoms, pointing out their silence on “the vile killing of babies in their cradle” in Gaza.

Erdogan remarked on the indifference of many countries, especially Western governments, to the “barbarism in Gaza.” He argued that Gaza and Palestine are glaring examples of how those who discuss rights and laws segregate people based on skin color and beliefs. The language used changes, he noted, when the oppressed are Palestinians and the oppressor is Israeli.

The Turkish President reiterated Turkiye’s commitment to defending the Palestinian cause and expressed hope that the “dark days of oppression” in Gaza will end, similar to the situation in Syria.

The violence has resulted in more than 700 Palestinians killed and over 1,000 others injured in a surprise aerial campaign by Israel on Gaza since Tuesday, breaking a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement established in January.
