New york: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared that the Palestinian issue has become a global concern, emphasizing the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza, the unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid, and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area. This statement was made during his address at the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held at the United Nations General Assembly.
According to Qatar News Agency, President Erdogan commended nations that have recognized the State of Palestine, expressing optimism that these actions would expedite the realization of the two-state solution. He highlighted the recognition of Palestine by several countries, including Security Council members, as a significant historical development.
The Turkish leader also remarked that violence in Gaza is ongoing and that it is unacceptable for anyone with a conscience to ignore this situation or remain silent in the face of what he termed as genocide. He asserted that the Israeli government's policies aim to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state and to force the migration of Palestinian people.
President Erdogan warned that the expansion and occupation policies are intended to undermine the two-state solution and displace Palestinians, stressing that such actions must be prevented. He urged the international community to stop the expansion in the West Bank, oppose the imposition of a fait accompli in East Jerusalem, and halt efforts to destabilize the region.
