Pas-de-Calais:Two men lost their lives on Monday off the French coast while trying to cross the English Channel into the UK. The men, reported to be in their thirties and forties, were attempting the dangerous passage at dawn, according to the Pas-de-Calais prefecture.
According to Qatar News Agency, two women involved in the same crossing attempt suffered burns over large areas of their bodies. They were hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. French authorities explained that the burns resulted from a chemical reaction caused by gasoline mixing with seawater.
An investigation has been initiated by prosecutors to uncover the circumstances of the fatalities. This incident adds to the growing number of migrant deaths at the Franco-British maritime border, bringing the total to at least 24 this year. Last week, another tragic attempt resulted in the deaths of three people, including a 10-year-old child.
