UAE President Condemns Attack on Kurdistan Region President’s Residence


Abu dhabi: UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has condemned the recent attack targeting the residence of Nechirvan Barzani, President of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, located in Duhok Governorate.



According to Qatar News Agency, during a phone call with President Barzani, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also addressed the ongoing Iranian attacks against the UAE and other regional countries. These attacks have been targeting civilians, facilities, and civilian infrastructure. The UAE President expressed his support for initiatives aimed at bolstering the security of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.



President Nechirvan Barzani, for his part, condemned the Iranian attacks, characterizing them as violations of state sovereignty, international law, and the UN Charter. He emphasized that these acts undermine both regional and international peace and security.



In a separate engagement, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed the broader regional developments and their implications for peace and security during a video call with US Senator Joni Ernst. Both parties exchanged views on the ongoing situation, highlighting the Iranian attacks targeting the UAE and several other countries in the region. Senator Ernst condemned these actions as infringements on state sovereignty and violations of international laws and norms.
