Jeddah:The United Arab Emirates kicked off their Gulf Cup campaign with a commanding 4-0 win against Yemen at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.
According to Qatar News Agency, the victory allowed the UAE to take control of Group B with three points, as the next match between Qatar and Bahrain was set to take place later in the evening.
Nicolas Gimenez was instrumental for the UAE, scoring twice in the 26th and 52nd minutes. Yemen's Nader Sahal inadvertently contributed to the UAE's lead with an own goal in the 36th minute, and Luan Pereira added another goal during first-half stoppage time.
