UK Imposes Sanctions on Two Israeli Ministers for Incitement to Violence

London: The United Kingdom (UK) announced on Tuesday that it has imposed sanctions on two far-right Israeli ministers, Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, for their statements and repeated incitement to violence against Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

According to Qatar News Agency, in a joint statement alongside the Foreign Ministers of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Norway, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy said that Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich have incited extremist violence and serious abuses of Palestinian human rights. He added that these actions were not acceptable, and as a result, the countries in question took action to hold those responsible to account.

The UK is, thus, joining Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Norway in freezing the assets of Ben-Gvir and Smotrich and imposing travel bans on them.
