Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy renewed his call to obtain more air defense systems from Western countries, whether leased or jointly produced in the long term.
Zelenskyy said in an interview on the American network NBC News that they need to save Ukraine, and one of the ways to do this is through joint production of air defense, but before joint production begins, Ukraine will need more air defense systems.
"Our message to the world, to the United States, to Europe, to Asia: to give us some air defense systems, just to use them, just to rent them, rent for this period, especially winter. Winter is a very challenging period," he added.
Zelenskyy added that Ukraine needs drones that can attack and gather intelligence information, pointing out that Ukraine has started producing some drones but needs more of them.
The administration of US President Joe Biden has asked Congress for additional billions to fund Ukraine, but it faces opposition due to the decline in the willingness of Republicans in the House of Representatives to continue providing such assistance.
