UN Official, Representatives of Associations of Libyan Political Party Discuss Developments in Political Process

Tripoli: Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General Hanna Tetteh discussed with representatives of the associations of the Libyan political party the current political and security situation in Libya.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General emphasized the necessity of advancing an inclusive political process based on the options recommended by the Advisory Committee and ongoing consultations with stakeholders, including the broader public.

The participants conveyed a shared desire to urgently develop an inclusive political process aimed at leading to national elections and establishing a united government.

Presidential and parliamentary elections were scheduled to be held in Libya in December 2021. However, they were postponed indefinitely due to disagreements among political factions.
