Kuwait: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres strongly condemned the incident that occurred on Sunday, which resulted in the death of an Indonesian peacekeeper serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) at his post in Taybeh, southern Lebanon. Guterres said that this incident is part of a series of incidents that have jeopardized the safety and security of peacekeepers, including those that have occurred in the past 48 hours.
According to Qatar News Agency, he reiterated his call on all parties to uphold their obligations under international law and to ensure the safety and security of UN personnel and property at all times. The Secretary-General asserted that attacks on peacekeepers constitute grave violations of international humanitarian law and Security Council resolution 1701 (2006), and may amount to war crimes, emphasizing the need for accountability.
