Riyadh: The Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) and the International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Riyadh on Wednesday. The signing took place on the sidelines of the fourth UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (GFEAI 2026), which kicked off Monday and concludes Thursday.
According to Qatar News Agency, the MOU was co-signed by Director General of UNA Muhammad bin Abd Rabbo Al Yami and Director General of ICAIRE Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Shehri. It aims to achieve the shared goals of UNA and ICAIRE, whose pillars stem from UNESCO's Medium-Term Strategy (2022-2029), as well as UNA's objectives, which align with UNESCO's strategic objectives of promoting freedom of expression and media development.
This agreement includes strengthening a culture of peace and tolerance, repudiating hate speech and extremism, supporting knowledge exchange, and building media capacity in the digital age. It also focuses on coordinating training programs for media professionals, strengthening ethical technological transformation, and forging partnerships to achieve a sustainable impact.
