Geneva: Paris: UNESCO Executive Board Chairperson HE Dr. Nasser Al Hinzab has discussed with HE Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian the organization's role in protecting education, cultural heritage, and journalists. The meeting took place at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, focusing on the organization's mandate to safeguard educational and cultural institutions, preserve cultural heritage, protect journalists, and promote the right to education amid ongoing challenges. According to Qatar News Agency, HE Al Hinzab reaffirmed his support for the effective implementation of UNESCO Executive Board resolutions on the protection of educational and cultural institutions and journalists. He emphasized the importance of translating those decisions into practical action within the organization's mandate. Furthermore, he highlighted the need to uphold international law, particularly conventions relating to the protection of cultural heritage and cultural property in the Palestinian territories, noting that su ch sites form part of humanity's shared heritage. Meanwhile, HE Aghabekian expressed appreciation for UNESCO's role in protecting educational and cultural institutions, supporting the education sector, and promoting development and stability in the Palestinian territories.
