Cairo: The 113th session of the Conference of Supervisors of Palestinian Affairs in Arab Host Countries kicked off on Sunday at the headquarters of the League of Arab States.
According to Qatar News Agency, topping the conference's agenda is the financial crisis facing the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). The discussions also focused on ways to mobilize support for UNRWA and renew its mandate for another three years. Additionally, the Arab stance on the agency's strategic evaluation report was a significant point of discussion.
Delegations from Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, and the State of Palestine are participating in the conference. Representatives from the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and UNRWA are also present to contribute to the dialogue.
The financial difficulties of UNRWA have been a critical concern, impacting its ability to provide essential services to Palestinian refugees. The conference aims to address these challenges by seeking renewed commitments and exploring new strategies for support.
