US and South Korea Sign Civil Nuclear Cooperation Agreement.


WASHINGTON: The US Department of Energy announced Monday that it has reached a civil nuclear cooperation agreement between the United States and South Korea. The agreement aims to enhance cooperation in the field of civil nuclear energy, marking a significant step in the bilateral relations of the two nations.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Department stated that both countries have initialed an agreement on principles related to nuclear exports. This development underscores the mutual commitment of Washington and Seoul to promote the expansion of peaceful nuclear energy while adhering to the highest standards of non-proliferation, safety, safeguards, and security.

The newly signed agreement is also expected to strengthen the management of civil nuclear technology export controls between the US and South Korea. This cooperation is anticipated to provide a foundation for expanding bilateral efforts in combating climate change, aligning with global goals for sustainable energy solutions.
