US President Announces Three-Day Ceasefire Between Russia, Ukraine Starting Saturday

Washington: US President Donald Trump announced today a three-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, noting that it will take effect starting tomorrow, Saturday, May 9.

According to Qatar News Agency, in a post on Truth Social platform, Trump explained that the ceasefire between the two sides will continue through Monday, May 11. He added that "this ceasefire will include a suspension of all kinetic activity, and also a prison swap of 1,000 prisoners from each Country."

Trump also expressed his hope "it is the beginning of the end of a very long, deadly, and hard-fought war," pointing that "talks are continuing on ending this Major Conflict."

Donald Trump had pledged during his presidential campaign to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, and after arriving at the White House, he held talks with both his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky on this matter.
